Happy Sweatpants: We celebrate Sweatpants Day!

Tomorrow is International Sweatpants Day. One of the most comforting inventions ever! After all, sweatpants are an all-rounder - they are not only great for sports, but also for home or as a cool styling piece. The cult trousers were first developed for sports in the 1920s and are still worn today.

What are sweatpants?

Originally, jogging trousers were designed for jogging, as the name suggests. The loose cut gives the legs free space, which is perfect for doing sports. Their cosy feel is not only convincing in sports, but also in everyday life.

History of sweatpants

About 100 years ago, the founder of the French sportswear manufacturer "Le Coq Sportif" created the very first sweatpants. They were simply knitted jersey trousers that were uniquely comfortable to wear. Since then, the so-called jogging pants have been worn all over the world.

Jogging trousers in the fashion world

Since 2010, sports trousers have also been gaining recognition in the fashion world. Around 10 years ago, jeans and chinos were also designed and worn in the jogging trouser cut. Karl Lagerfeld's sweatpants, which he designed for Paris Fashion Week in 2014, are considered a special fashion statement. This milestone clearly showed that sweatpants can not only be sporty, but also a real eye-catcher in terms of fashion.
