The revolutionary fibre blend of TENCEL™ with bamboo ensures exceptional comfort. The material has an elegant, silky surface and is produced using particularly environmentally friendly and resource-efficient methods.

Properties

Textiles made from TENCEL with bamboo are:

  • Hypoallergenic

  • Temperature-regulating

Not too hot, not too cold – just right. The materials also boast active temperature control properties for added comfort.

  • Fresh-feeling

The fabric inhibits the growth of odour-causing bacteria. The clothes offer long-lasting freshness, have anti-odour properties and stay comfortable.

  • Fast-drying

Moisture control properties ensure the textiles feel dry because they immediately release moisture into the air again.

Textiles made from TENCEL™ with bamboo are also antibacterial and odour-neutralising. In contrast to many other materials, this blend is breathable and absorbs body odour – making it the perfect underwear material for the office or for physically strenuous activity.

What makes the bamboo plant special

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet. A member of the grass family, it can grow between one and two metres a day under optimal conditions in central Asia, eventually reaching a height of more than 20 m and a diameter of up to 18 cm. Thanks to bamboo’s antibacterial properties, pesticides are not necessary, meaning the material is completely organic! The yarn is made exclusively from bamboo from plantations, ensuring that no food supplies for animals such as pandas are affected, and no protected ecosystems are threatened. The part of the plant that grows above ground is used to produce the cellulose, so the plant can keep regrowing from its roots.

Bamboo combined with Tencel™

The bamboo yarn is mixed with TENCEL™. The Lyocell fibre comes from the house of Lenzing, and has botanical origins as it is made from wood. Thanks to its closed loop manufacturing, the fibre production is especially environmentally friendly. The invention of TENCEL™ fibres marks a new chapter in the history of fibre production. Materials made from TENCEL™ are more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.

How it differs from cotton

In addition to its breathable, temperature-regulating properties, TENCEL™ with bamboo provides feel-good freshness all day long. The environmentally friendly and resource-efficient fibres have a soft, silky smooth feel. Unlike cotton, clothing made from TENCEL™ bamboo fibres doesn’t crease. The fabric doesn’t shrink in the wash and dries extremely quickly in normal temperatures.

Certification

Materials made with the innovative fibre blend bamboo-TENCEL™ are certified with the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label. Products with this label are made using materials tested for harmful substances in environmentally-friendly facilities with safe and socially responsible workplaces.
