What is MADE IN GREEN?

We are dedicated to producing sustainable products! With the introduction of the independent, globally recognised label MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®, we have been dedicated to producing safe, sustainably manufactured textiles with transparent production processes for several years. But in today’s myriad of labels, it can be hard to maintain an overview. We answer five questions about the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label.

1. What is MADE IN GREEN?

MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® is a traceable user label for sustainable textiles. The label guarantees that the product is:

- produced with certified non-toxic materials
- produced in environmentally-friendly facilities
- produced in safe, socially responsible workplaces

2. Who awards the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®label?

The MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® certification is awarded by the international OEKO-TEX® Association, a cooperation made up of textile researchers and verification organisations.

3. Who made my product and where?

Each item carrying the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label can be transparently traced using a unique product ID in the form of a number or QR code.

The product ID provides information about where the textile was produced along the textile chain, the stage of production in which the factories are involved and the countries where the items are made. Simply go to www.madeingreen.com and enter the product ID or scan the QR code with a barcode app on your smartphone.

4. Why has CALIDA chosen MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®?

We have chosen the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label because we consider it the best match for our sustainability concept. We looked at many alternatives that covered only part of our own ideas. The STeP by OEKO-TEX® certificates and the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® labels take both environmental and social aspects into account, together with a very high degree of transparency.

5. What is the difference between BSCI and MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®?

BSCI and MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® cannot necessarily be compared on a one-to-one basis. BSCI is a corporate initiative aiming to improve working conditions along the supply chain. MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®, on the other hand, is an independent label to mark textiles made from materials that have been tested for harmful substances, produced using environmentally friendly processes, and manufactured in socially responsible working conditions.
