Our materials
Selected for you. There is the right fibre for every moment in life. We select our materials with the utmost care and rely on high-quality natural fibres, among other things. Together with our production partners, we are constantly developing new processes and products that are ahead of their time and set standards throughout the industry.
Cotton
The longer, finer, and more uniform cotton fibers are, the higher the quality of the fabric produced. We use only fiber lengths of 25 to 50 mm, which are particularly smooth, soft, easy to care for, and durable. Together with our suppliers, we are strengthening social and environmental standards through our Supplier Code of Conduct, while our collections feature different types of cotton, including Swiss cotton that meets strict quality criteria.
Wool
Our wool comes from controlled, species-appropriate and mulesing-free farming, from Merino sheep from South Africa, South America and Australia, whose fibre is of particularly high quality and soft. Merino wool is naturally moisture and temperature regulating, repels odors and especially pleasant on the skin, as it doesn’t scratch.
TENCEL™
TENCEL™ fibres are made from the natural raw material wood and are produced with at least 50% less carbon emissions and water consumption*. TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres support a natural dry feeling through moisture regulation, are naturally soft and smooth to the touch.
*Comparison to generic (unbranded) Lyocell and Modal fibres. The results are based on LCA standards (ISO 14040/44) and are available via Higg MSI
SeaCell™
SeaCell™ is a particularly soft fibre made from Icelandic brown algae, which is harvested in an environmentally friendly way and processed in a closed cycle without harmful substances. The natural minerals, vitamins and antioxidants contained in the algae have been proven to nourish the skin and support regeneration.
Diversity that makes a noticeable difference at every moment.
Our certifications
We have been voluntarily fulfilling the strictest standards for the safety and environmental compatibility of our materials and manufacturing processes for years. For the best feeling, and not just on your skin.
Cradle to Cradle Certified®
We introduced the first Cradle to Cradle Certified® shirt in 2018. To date, our range has grown to include many series that are certified according to the globally recognised assessment standard for safe, sustainable and recyclable products.
OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN
In 2016, CALIDA was the first clothing brand in the world to introduce OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN. Products with this label have been produced under environmentally friendly and socially responsible conditions in line with OEKO-TEX® STeP and tested for harmful substances according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 – fully transparent for all. A unique product ID makes it possible to trace the supply chain in detail via a QR code.
OEKO-TEX® STeP
OEKO-TEX® STeP (STeP = Sustainable Textile Production) is a certification system for sustainability. It analyses and evaluates the use of environmentally friendly technologies and products as well as the working conditions and the impact of manufacturing companies on the environment. Thanks to OEKO-TEX® STeP, CALIDA has been providing seamless transparency along the entire production chain since 2015.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is the world’s most important testing and certification system for textiles that are tested for harmful substances, and guarantees maximum product safety. Since 1995, all product components at CALIDA, i.e. all threads, buttons, elastics, embroidery, labels and other accessories, have been tested according to over 300 annually updated criteria.
