The textile industry in which our company operates is an environment characterised by complex, global procurement chains and related issues such as working conditions, living wages and environmental standards. This is a daily challenge for us, but we consider it our duty to ensure that CALIDA’s standards with regard to quality, social ethics and the environment are maintained at the highest level. This is a commitment we have pursued for decades. Our values in terms of service, product quality, environment and ethics guide us in our work. Together with our employees and partners in the producing countries, we also tap into the opportunities offered by sustainable – i.e. ecological, economic and social – development. This is what makes CALIDA what it is each and every day: an innovative, competitive organisation with a rich tradition.
CALIDA has always believed in the importance of transparency. In 2016, the brand became the world’s first underwear company to introduce the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label. CALIDA works hard to maintain its role as a pioneer in sustainability, adding numerous new men’s and women’s styles to its MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® range every season. The children’s range has been fully certified since autumn 2016.
In addition to the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label, CALIDA has created a true innovation in the field of sustainability: the first fully compostable series with fabric made from 100% cellulose, produced in a closed-loop process using products sourced from sustainable forestry which particularly help to conserve resources. The range is certified by the independent label Cradle to Cradle® (C2C).

At CALIDA , an awareness of social responsibility is part of tradition. In the report on social responsiblity, we established binding behavior to promote the awareness of sustainability and social responsibility.

When it comes to materials and components, CALIDA sets the highest standards for quality, naturalness, sustainability and innovation. We use only high-quality materials that are certified with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® and predominantly sourced in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Italy. In addition to our high quality requirements, we choose our materials on the basis of naturalness, sustainability, transparent production and innovation.
What distinguishes a sustainably produced material?
There are several criteria. We attach particular importance to ecofriendly and socially responsible production. How much water is consumed? Which raw materials are used? We work a lot with plantbased fibres of natural origin, such as MicroModal® and TENCEL®. They are produced using particularly environmentally friendly processes. They also provide exceptional comfort.
