Selected for you. And for the future. There is the right fibre for every moment in life. And for every fibre, there is a sustainable way to obtain it. We ensure that the natural fibres we use are grown and harvested under the best possible conditions, and that they are kept in an ethical way. In addition, together with our production partners, we are constantly developing new processes and products that are far ahead of their time and set standards throughout the industry.
The longer, finer and uniform cotton fibres are, the higher quality the resulting material is. We only use qualities with fibre lengths of 25 to 50 mm, which are particularly smooth, supple, easy to clean and durable. We consistently pay attention to sustainable sourcing and compliance with the highest Swiss quality and environmental standards.
Our wool comes from controlled, species-appropriate and mulesing-free farming, mainly from Merino sheep from South Africa, whose fur is of particularly high quality and soft. Merino wool is naturally moisture and temperature regulating, antibacterial and especially pleasant on the skin, as it doesn’t scratch.
TENCEL™ fibres are sourced from sustainably grown wood that has been grown without artificial fertilisers or artificial irrigation at certified farms. The manufacture takes place in a closed cycle with the lowest possible ecological impact. TENCEL™, Lyocell from eucalyptus wood has a pleasantly smooth and silky surface, cools in a similar way to linen and is around eight times more absorbent than cotton. TENCEL™, Modal Micro made from beechwood feels incredibly soft, elegant and pleasant on the skin.
SeaCell™ is a particularly soft fibre made from Icelandic brown algae, which is harvested in an environmentally friendly way and processed in a closed cycle without harmful substances. The natural minerals, vitamins and antioxidants contained in the algae have been proven to nourish the skin and support regeneration.
ECONYL® is a particularly smooth, soft and skin-caressing material made completely of recycled nylon that was produced from old fishing nets, rugs and scraps of material. Or from itself: That’s because ECONYL® can be recycled countless times within the context of a circular economy. The quality of ECONYL® is just as good as the quality of traditionally produced nylon, but infinitely better for the environment.
Cradle to cradle certified® materials
Together with our long-standing production partners, we are constantly developing new materials and processing methods that fulfil the strict criteria of the voluntary Cradle to Cradle Certified® standard. The certification confirms that the products are optimised for the biological cycle and are free from toxic materials.
Diversity that makes a noticeable difference at every moment.
We have been voluntarily fulfilling the strictest standards for the safety and environmental compatibility of our materials and manufacturing processes for years. For the best feeling, and not just on your skin.
Cradle to Cradle Certified®
We introduced the first Cradle to Cradle Certified® shirt in 2018. To date, our range has grown to include many series that are certified according to the globally recognised assessment standard for safe, sustainable and recyclable products.
OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN
In 2016, CALIDA was the first clothing brand in the world to introduce OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN. Products with this label have been produced under environmentally friendly and socially responsible conditions in line with OEKO-TEX® STeP and tested for harmful substances according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 – fully transparent for all. A unique product ID makes it possible to trace the supply chain in detail via a QR code.
OEKO-TEX® STeP (STeP = Sustainable Textile Production) is a certification system for sustainability. It analyses and evaluates the use of environmentally friendly technologies and products as well as the working conditions and the impact of manufacturing companies on the environment. Thanks to OEKO-TEX® STeP, CALIDA has been providing seamless transparency along the entire production chain since 2015.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is the world’s most important testing and certification system for textiles that are tested for harmful substances, and guarantees maximum product safety. Since 1995, all product components at CALIDA, i.e. all threads, buttons, elastics, embroidery, labels and other accessories, have been tested according to over 300 annually updated criteria.
