Female breast shapes: An ode to individuality & well-being

If your breasts are of different sizes or shapes, you are like the majority of women. Very few women have breasts of exactly the same size. For some, this difference is barely recognisable, for many others it’s very clear. If you want to balance out the size difference a little, lightly padded bras are suitable. Underwired bras also keep the breasts in shape and conceal asymmetry. As the asymmetrical breast shape is simply a comparison between your breasts, you can probably also identify with one of the following breast shapes.

Round breasts are characterised by an evenly distributed volume. With this breast shape, you can draw on the full range of bra styles, as support is of secondary importance. If you have round breasts, it’s perfectly natural for the volume to decrease over time and the tissue to become softer. You find out now which breast shapes can develop and which bras go with them.

Teardrop-shaped breasts are, as the name suggests, shaped like a drop. While they are slightly narrower at the top, the widest point is approximately at the same height as the nipple. What do round and teardrop-shaped breasts have in common? Every bra fits! Try triangle and spacer bras, bustiers or bras with underwires. Depending on your size, different bra cuts can emphasise your curves in very different ways.

A bell has its widest point at the bottom, while it becomes narrower at the top. The bell-shaped breast, which is often seen in women with a larger cup size, looks similar. To provide the necessary support and relief for back and shoulders, we recommend bras with a wider underbust band. Just like the wide straps, the elastic underbust band ensures better weight distribution. These special bras not only give you a harmonious appearance, but also make you feel more comfortable.

Women with a small bust often have firm, sometimes even very muscular breasts that are more pointed at the front. As smaller breasts do not require too much support, the focus should be on comfort. Lightly padded cup bras and bustiers make the décolleté appear fuller even without heavy padding, if this is desired.

The name “East-West breasts” may sound bizarre at first, but it describes the breast shape quite clearly. This mainly concerns the nipples, but sometimes also the breasts themselves, which point outwards. If this bothers you, you can opt for underwired bras. Just like bras with side padding, they ensure that the breasts are pushed together slightly in the centre.

Some women have them from puberty, others only get them after the birth of a child or after losing weight. Elongated or sagging breasts have less volume and more tissue than other breast shapes. That’s why they are approximately the same width at all points. If you want to lift your elongated breasts a little, there are different options when choosing a bra. The classic push-up bra and a lightly padded bustier with a wide underbust band are popular options.

Hardly any woman retains exactly the same breast shape after puberty, and this is completely normal. Changes in the shape of the breasts occur repeatedly in a woman’s life, primarily due to childbirth and subsequent breastfeeding periods, but also due to natural fluctuations in body weight.

There are different breast shapes and there are different types of bras. It’s certainly possible to give bra recommendations for certain breast shapes. However, your own personal needs and feelings may be completely different. For example, a woman with small or sagging breasts should not feel forced to wear push-up bras if she feels more comfortable in bustiers or lightly padded bras without underwiring. At the same time, women with a larger bust can also opt for an additional push-up effect or choose a bra with less support.
